PLDT GROUP, MVP GROUP EXECS TAKE MASTERCLASS ON LEADERSHIP IN THE HYPER-CHANGE AGE
Leading US Strategic Consultant Speaks at
Company’s Corporate Governance Enhancement Session
In the “Age of Hyper-Change,” the ones who will rule are the ones who will lead change.
“We have seen more changes over the last three years than over the last thirty. And we are going to see more change, more unpredictability, over the next 18 months than in all of our lives,” said David Morey, Chairman and CEO of DMG Global, best-selling author and one of America’s leading strategic consultants, in his keynote address for the PLDT Group’s 18th Annual Corporate Governance Enhancement Session (ACGES).
According to Morey, we live in the age of “exponential hyper-change” and the only way to survive is to adopt an “insurgent’s mindset”–one that not only embraces change but leads change.
“It’s the worst time in history to be an incumbent. Incumbents are in trouble because customers are unhappy with the status quo. They want change. They want more. Their expectations have risen,” Morey said, adding: “Don’t just endure change. Don’t just tolerate change. Don’t just accept change. Lead change.”
Joining Morey in a fireside chat, PLDT Chairman and CEO Manuel V Pangilinan underscored the importance of thinking differently in order to stay ahead. “Taking on an insurgent’s attitude is particularly important right now in the case of PLDT and Smart,” he noted.
Pangilinan emphasized the importance of growing the ranks of leaders in any organization. “Companies must refresh their cadre of leaders with younger people, because that is their future,” he added.
Joining the session were over 650 MVP Group directors, officers, and executives from the PLDT Group, Manila Electric Co., Metro Pacific Investments Corporation, Philex Mining Corporation, PXP Energy Corp., Roxas Holdings, Inc., Maynilad, Asian Hospital and Medical Center, Metro Pacific Health, Metro Pacific Tollways, NLEX Corporation, Mediaquest Holdings, Makati Medical Center, Maya, Davao Doctors Hospital, Voyager Innovations, Kayana, mWell, and Cignal.
Attendees also engaged in discussions with Erika Fille T. Legara, PhD., Aboitiz Chair in Data Science and Founding Director of the Master of Science in Data Science Program at the Asian Institute of Management.
A panel composed of Jojo Gendrano, PLDT Head of Enterprise Business Group, Rocky Bacani, Meralco Head of Information, Communications, Technology and Transformation, and Albert Padin, mWell Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer, also discussed thought-provoking questions on the challenges and opportunities of harnessing big data within the MVP Group to deliver enhanced customer experience.
