Nearly 23 years ago, on October 9, 2003, alongside three climbing brothers, I summited Mt. Kilimanjaro, up and across the treacherous Western Breach, to 19,341 feet—to the top of Africa’s highest mountain, the highest free-standing mountain in the world.
